The International Bamboo and Rattan Organization (INBAR) stands as an intergovernmental development entity dedicated to fostering environmentally sustainable progress through the utilization of bamboo and rattan.
Established in 1997, INBAR is driven by a mission to enhance the well-being of bamboo and rattan producers and users, all within the framework of sustainable resource management. With a membership comprising 50 states, INBAR operates globally, maintaining its Secretariat Headquarters in China and Regional Offices in Cameroon, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Ghana, and India.

INBAR’s distinctive organizational structure positions it as a significant advocate for its Member States, particularly those predominantly situated in the Global South. Over the course of 26 years, INBAR has actively championed South-South cooperation, making substantial contributions to the lives of millions worldwide. Noteworthy achievements include the elevation of standards, the promotion of secure and resilient bamboo construction, the restoration of degraded land, capacity-building initiatives, and shaping green policy in alignment with Sustainable Development Goals. Throughout its existence, INBAR has consistently made a positive impact on both people and environments across the globe.
